Ixchel: (pronounced "ee-shell")
Mayan Moon Goddess of Healing, Medicine and Becoming

We envision a world where every woman lives in harmony, health and freedom, where healing love ripples from individuals through their relationships and into the world. To this end we honor the courage, strength and creativity of our most vulnerable who have already taken the first difficult steps in creating healthy lives.

The Ixchel (pronounced "ee-shell") Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, empowers women in a community that nurtures economically viable creative development and transformative healing.

Ixchel, the Mayan Moon Goddess of Healing, Medicine and Becoming, is mid-wife to our creative ideas and comfortable with all sides of life. Ixchel encourages us to acknowledge all forces affecting our lives and prompts us to assert ourselves fully in the face of what seeks to diminish our true sense of self.

We adopt an integrative approach, synthesizing the best of western medicine and psychology with body-centered and eastern healing traditions, restoring mind, body, emotion and spirit to wholeness. The Ixchel Foundation respectfully draws from mystical healing in all cultures, employing diverse practices in a harmonious and sanctifying way that resonate deep within the individual. Ixchel encourages and embraces the rich cultural heritage of all women and instills a warm, healing, generous process to journey through the struggles of gender-bias, cultural attitudes and violence toward women.
